On Thursday 14 May, NHS National Services Scotland colleagues based at our NHSScotland warehouse in Larkhall gathered at 8pm to show their appreciation, alongside the nation, in Clap for Carers.
Over 70 colleagues from our site operations took part as it was broadcast live on BBC One Scotland. Also joining the occasion were local Larkhall pipers Haroon Rashid and Darren Sommerville.
Darren commented, “My partner and parents all work with the NHS. In fact my dad works here at the distribution centre. This has been a great opportunity to come here today, and take part in this weekly show of appreciation for everyone’s contributions at this difficult time.“
Haroon added, “This all came about really quickly. Living locally, I offered to come and play and within a day, it’s all come together and here we are. The warehouse here is a lesser known part of the NHS but nothing in NHS Scotland would be possible without this amazing facility to keep hospitals supplied. I’m really proud that this is part of our Larkhall community and it’s been a privilege to come along here today.”
Since early March, our NHS National Services Scotland National Distribution Centre has been operating 24/7 to support the supply and distribution of PPE and critical supplies to health and social care throughout Scotland.
