Coronavirus (COVID-19): new personal protective equipment (PPE) guidance for health and social care workers

New guidance is now available for those treating patients with suspected or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) in secondary, primary and community care settings.

It has been agreed by the four UK Chief Medical Officers and Chief Nursing Officers, following an urgent review of the existing guidance against the latest evidence and WHO advice on the safest way to protect health and social care staff.

It recommends what type of PPE to use in secondary, primary and community care settings, and when to wear it, both when COVID-19 is confirmed and in environments where it is unsuspected.

For more information on this guidance, read the Scottish Government news article. You can also view the full PPE guidance.
