The Scottish Government have issued PCA(D)(2020)6 detailing contingency measures which have been put in place to preserve the integrity of General Dental Services (GDS) as a result of substantial disruption to service provision due to the escalation of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Scotland. PCA(D)(2020)6 also provides guidance on business continuity and financial support measures to independent contractors providing GDS.
Tom Ferris, Chief Dental Officer, has now issued a follow up letter providing further clarity about the nature of these measures, as well as specific guidance around the use of aerosol generating procedures (AGPs).
All independent dental practices providing GDS have been asked to complete and submit to their NHS Board a Business Continuity Plan which can be found within the PCA document. This must be completed by 31 March 2020. After 31 March, practices have been instructed to submit a weekly NHS activity record sheet to their NHS Board. This can also be found within the PCA document.
