How to get set up for eDental

There are specific steps you must follow to ensure you are ready to move across to eDental.

Please review where you are in relation to each step.

Step 1

Do you have a practice management system that you currently use to send claims electronically?

If Yes, please refer to the timescales for suppliers.

 If No, please go to Step 2.

Step 2

Are you a new practice or a practice without an existing Scottish Wide Area Network (SWAN) connection?

If Yes, please complete both the SWAN application form and code of connection form, which you can access below. Please note that SWAN connections can take a few months to arrange and install.

If No, please go to Step 3.

Step 3

Do you intend to be submitting electronically using a practice management system?

If Yes, please ensure you make a decision on which system you intend to use as soon as possible. Check the latest supplier timescales and where each supplier is in relation to accreditation.

Please notify us on 0131 275 6300 or by email on when you have made a decision on which practice management system you intend to use. 

If No, go to Step 4.

Step 4

As you have not indicated you use or intend to use a practice management system (PMS) or your PMS is not yet accredited for submitting electronic prior approval you will need to submit your prior approval requests using the web form.
