Urgently required records

The Urgent Request process expedites the movement of medical records where there is a demonstrated clinical need for the new GP practice to hold the records as soon as practically possible.

Sometimes delays can happen in a record being transferred to a new GP practice.

If the need becomes urgent then contact your local Practitioner services office who’ll start an Urgent Records process. This involves direct contact to the previous practice, or to NHS England, Wales or Northern Ireland, to either speed up the release of the record, or facilitates a quick exchange of the important information ie a clinical summary.

In some cases, we may put the two GP practices in direct contact to achieve a fast and positive response.
