Return of unused adult flu vaccines

If you have unused adult flu vaccines these can be returned to OM Movianto.  Depending on which health board your practice is located in, vaccines should be returned directly to Movianto through national return arrangements or returned to your health board’s vaccine holding centre through local return arrangements.  The table below details the process that will apply in your health board.

Please note these arrangements apply to adult flu vaccines only. Alternative arrangements are in place for other vaccines such as the vaccines supplied as part of the childhood flu vaccine programme.

For all sites returning flu vaccines please be advised of the following:

• As a general rule, please give the stock to the driver in the same condition you would like delivered to you
• Where possible, please use product packaging
• No used or unsheathed syringes to be returned
• Please use strong, secure cardboard box to contain all the stock, with no existing damage
• Please minimise the number of boxes being given back
• No box to weigh more than 10kg
• Please have the box easily accessible to your colleagues who will speak with the Movianto driver

Process for return of unused vaccines

Your practice will be contacted by a member of the Movianto Scottish Flu Team who will ask for the following information:

• Practice details, including postcode and practice number
• Manufacturer of product(s) being returned e.g. Seqirus, Sanofi or Mylan
• Name of product(s) being returned e.g. Fluad, Flucelvax, Sanofi or Mylan
• Number of packs of each vaccine to be returned, including any partial packs

All vaccines – full packs, partial packs and single vaccines – should be packed in boxes ready for collection by Movianto.  These do not need to be stored in cold-chain conditions.

Please ensure appropriate return packaging is used e.g. rigid cardboard box.  Biscuit tins and takeaway coffee cups are not considered appropriate for returning unused vaccines.

You will receive a Goods Uplift Collection reference (GUCXXXXXX) from Movianto to confirm that your uplift has been arranged. Please retain this reference in the event you need to contact Movianto to discuss you return.

Ensure the GUC reference (GUCXXXXXX) is clearly marked on the returns box and your unused vaccines will be uplifted from your practice in April.
